Inter-Domain QoS Routing Algorithms

چکیده
Quality-of-Service routing satisfies performance requirements of applications and maximizes utilization of network resources by selecting paths based on the resource needs of application sessions and link load. QoS routing can significantly increase the number of reserved bandwidth sessions that a network can carry, while meeting application QoS requirements. Most research on QoS routing to date, has focussed on routing within a single domain. We argue that since the peering links joining different network domains are often congestion points for network traffic, it is even more important to apply QoS routing concepts to inter-domain routing. BGP, the de facto standard for inter-domain routing provides no support for QoS routing, and indeed it facilitates the use of localized routing polices that can lead to poor end-to-end performance. This paper proposes a new approach to inter-domain routing for sessions requiring reserved resources. We introduce two specific routing algorithms based on this approach and evaluate their performance using simulation.

Mechanisms for Inter-domain QoS Routing in Differentiated Service Networks
In order to provide various services with different quality requirements, the current Internet is expected to turn into a QoS based Internet under the Differentiated Service (DiffServ) architecture. A variety of works have been done in the field of constraint based routing to provide QoS guaranteed or assured services by developing novel routing protocols and algorithms. However, most of these ...

Currently, a straightforward way to design BGP-based Traffic Engineering (TE) tools for stub Autonomous Systems (AS) is to rely on selfish routing mechanisms. Although TE tools can find an optimal solution, this optimum represents only a local optimum for outbound traffic. Indeed, this is one of the main limitations of the selfish routing approach. This approach makes the TE tools unaware of th...

متن کاملAn Evolutionary Fuzzy Algorithm for Qos and Policy-based Inter-domain Routing in Heterogeneous Atm and Sdh/sonet Networks
One major issue in future B-ISDN is the problem of routing, given QoS and policy constraints. The problem has been proved to be extremely complex and heuristics have been proposed to reach near-optimal solutions . In this paper we propose the use of computational intelligence algorithms, such as fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms for route computation. We designed an inter-domain routing mechan...
متن کاملAn Approach to Off-Line Inter-domain QoS-Aware Resource Optimization
Inter-domain traffic engineering is a key issue when QoS-aware resource optimization is concerned. Mapping inter-domain traffic flows into existing service level agreements is, in general, a complex problem, for which some algorithms have recently been proposed in the literature. In this paper a modified version of a multi-objective genetic algorithm is proposed, in order to optimize the utiliz...
